In other words, there is enough room for humanity to maximize their potential to seek for things best for their life and community. With respect to democracy, Islam actually requires democracy to develop. We can learn from the Muslim history that whenever the power belongs to a group of people that do not allow public space for people participation, Islam becomes weak and is more likely to be exploited in accordance to the power owner interests. Islam and Muslims can only maximize their potential through democracy. 

Nowadays, Muslims who occupy about 1.8 millions of the world population cannot play a significant role for the human development and prosperity because most of them live under authoritarian governments. From the East to the West and from the South to the North, you can see how most Muslim leaders exploit their people.

They develop military and economy not to help their people develop their social, cultural and intellectual capacity. Rather, they use these power resources to protect their group interests by letting their power disempowered. Unfortunately, it is often too easy for them to use Islam as a reason for what they are doing to their people. In short, nowadays Islam and Muslims disparately need democratic society and environment to develop. In other words, Islam development is always asymmetrical with authoritarian society.
